A CURIOUS ADVERTISEMENT, which we print below, seems to be another proof of the extraordinary interest occasioned by the Laing Controversy. It appeared in the Scotsman of January 9th. “SOPHIE.—The Correspondence in the ENGLISH WOMAN’S DOMESTIC MAGAZINE is Re-opened this Month. Is the Waistband ‘beautifully less?’” A reply to this was printed in the same paper a day or two afterwards, which ran: —“SEVENTEEN AND A-HALF INCHES.—Thanks to ENGLISHWOMAN’S MAGAZINE. How delightful to feel no longer unfashionable!—SOPHIE.“ The book to which we have several times referred is announced to be ready by the middle of February. Its title, we understand, is The Corset and the Crinoline.
THE CORSET AGAIN. This irresponsible subject will make itself heard, and some of the letters received have been found too interesting to discard, unprinted.
